Believe it or not that a seahorse is a fish. Seahorse have some very unuasal features beside there shape. They have a prehensil tail that allows them to grab onto things like sea grass. They are very slow swimmers and cant take
strong currents. They have a long and narrow snout to probe into rocks and crevases for small shrimps and they suck them up with there snout since they dont have any teeth. There suck is so powerful it disenegrates the food so it can go down there snout. There dorsal fin beats 70 beats per second to move itself. Seahorse come in variety of colors to jet black to bright orange or pink. Seahorse have the ability to change color to blend in with there enviroment. During morning
greatings or during mating they usually flash white. There body is composed of boney plates cover with flesh. The most stunning and unusual feature is the male gives birth to the babys(fry). When a female decides to mate with the male they will perform a courtship dance that can take up to days before she deposits her eggs into his brood pouch. Then he will give birth around 2 weeks. The brood and gestation period differs with species but average is two weeks. When he gives birth he begins jack knifing and twitching to exspel the babys. They look like minitures of the parents and are total indepenant.
